*EDIT* to clarify, my boobs, wide cleavage, sunken sternum, and protruding lower ribs form a perfect glass-holding base. I’ve still managed to shove money, a cell phone, my house keys and two tampons in the cleavage of a form-fitting, zip-up (high-neck, if you choose) dress and had it all fit, so whatever.

So I’ve been pretty quiet since my birthday for a couple of reasons. I’ve been battling a pretty heavy bout of depression since the beginning of June at least, and I got kind of minorly sexually assaulted coming home after drinking on my birthday. That hasn’t helped with my intimacy issues or the depression, I’m sure. Anyhow, I’ll explain the incident more fully, but I came out of it intact and unharmed physically. The guy basically just grabbed one of my boobs and ran away when I screamed. If it had happened at a club or something I wouldn’t have even been bothered by it (which is another, very problematic story).

So, anyhow, I’m STILL having to emphasize to ISKY how traumatic it actually was/is for me, and that I REALLY need him to follow my pace. He’s trying, but he still doesn’t get why I freak out if he pulls me toward him too strongly or doesn’t put the brakes on the second I tell him he’s going too fast. Which is a problem.

Anyhow, he came over tonight (late) because he was going home late and we haven’t seen each other since last Wednesday and don’t have time for a proper date (or to see each other at all) until Friday. Which was fine, but he was very drunk and decided that this was the right time to talk about how wonderful and beautiful and amazing and basically superior to 99% of the human population that he thinks I am. He also decided it was the right time to be insecure and tell me about how many rivals he must have for my affections and that he can’t really believe that someone like me would seriously be interested in someone like him.

It wasn’t the right time for that at all. I wanted to see him and cuddle and maybe just have some normal boring conversation about what’s been going on since we saw each other on Wednesday. I don’t want to be put on a pedestal in the first place, and I fucking hate it when awesome people don’t know their own worth (even though I seem to be particularly drawn to men like that), and the last fucking thing I want to hear when I’m depressed and unbathed and on my period and feeling gross about myself and my life for a billion fucking reasons is how perfect I am, because it just sounds like a stupid lie, or like he only likes me because I’m pretty, or whatever. He says that he didn’t really like me until he talked to me a couple times and realized that I’m also kind and smart and gentle, but I’m in depression brain right now and hearing that AFTER all of the stuff about how pretty I am (when I don’t feel pretty, as an added bonus) just makes my depression brain tell me it’s all fucking lies or something like that.

So I’m kind of annoyed with him. I think we have to talk a lot on Friday. To clarify, he has been mostly understanding about me and intimacy stuff and it being hard for me after being assaulted. It’s just that he seems to think that it’s just that night, or that after I re-initiate stuff that it must mean that I’m fine, and I’m getting tired of having to explain it EVERY TIME. He seemed to get it tonight, when I explained that it isn’t just the one thing, that I’ve had a lot of gross and scary interactions with men and that this is hitting me that much harder because it’s pulling up a bunch of old crap. I also told him that it will probably take a while for me to be completely okay, and that he can expect for this to be normal for the time being. Which sucks, and I know it, but it sucks more for me, so I REALLY need him to deal with it.

It’s really weird timing, too, because it seems like this happened right at the point where he started feeling close enough to me that he stopped asking me if he could kiss me, if he could do this, if he could do that. And frankly, if this hadn’t happened, I would probably be 100% okay with him just going with his instincts.

And then the depression. I’m not feeling anything most of the time. Sometimes I have fun, or at least it seems like I’m having fun and that’s close enough. Mostly if I feel anything, it’s just overwhelming sadness. Which is awesome.

Anyhow, it’s left me feeling like there’s a wall between me and everything else, including ISKY. I talked to him a bit about it tonight, but I don’t know how much he gets it. I’m sure we’ll have to talk about it a lot more. I do hope he sticks around until it’s better, but whatever. Which is of course the depression talking. The depression keeps tacking on “but whatever” to every fucking thing I think.

Anyhow, I told him that as long as I say I want to see him, even if I’m kind of distant or if I’m not cheerful or if I’m not as affectionate as I usually am, that it means I want to see him. And for now I kind of have to trust all the stuff I thought and felt about him before the depression hit and assume that I really do want to see him. But he needs to take me off the goddamn pedestal and be willing to deal with me in my depressed, traumatized, un-fun and preferring-cuddling-to-sex condition, or it’s not going to fly.

Oh, and the fucking mouse is still kicking it and making my life more miserable than it needs to be.

Everything else is going well. I get along well with my soon-to-be new boss and the bar job is still fun and great and I’ll still be friends with my current bosses after they leave and the wife is all cute and pregnant and lets me hug and nuzzle the baby, and my ballet students are all improving and my foot is getting better (it might be better, but I’m being careful), and I can TURN again, like really turn (an effortless 4 on the right and 3 on the left for the first time since I was 19), and my English students are awesome and I have cool friends and a lot of nice people in my life. Oh, and an awesome family who have been sweet and reaching out to me lately, and Daddy is going to be here in a couple days.

Which makes me feel that much worse for feeling so miserable. I know that it isn’t my fault or necessarily anything I can control, but being this depressed and sad when my life is actually probably the best it’s ever been makes me feel so much worse. Being depressed when things were quantifiably awful didn’t seem as bad, somehow. It certainly made it seem less like it was my fault.

So that’s kind of everything.

Though these boxes are meant to be for party favours (which is awesome in itself!) I think these little boxes would be fantastic to use as display jars, especially for kids rooms. Fill with crayons, pencils, etc. Or if you want to make them ‘grown up’ you could use gold, silver or bronze paint!
